Set of New York style engraved Smith & Wesson .22 caliber revolvers showing rare full gold finish and deluxe French fitted and brass studded luggage type casing. We sold this exact pair of revolvers nearly a decade ago shortly after they werediscovered in France in the possession of a diplomat and brought to the United States by a major collector. The pistols consist of a 1st model 2nd issue Smith & Wesson .22 caliber 7 shot single action revolver that is nicely New Yorkscroll engraved with gold gilt over silver finish, serial number 13789. This revolver shows approximately 30% to 50% gold over silver of which nearly all the silver remains just darkened slightly. The Rosewood grips are very good pluswith just some minor edge wear. The markings are sharp, the edges are crisp and the interior is very good showing just slight use. The second pistol is a 1st model 3rd issue Smith & Wesson revolver serial number 72269 is engraved to matchin the same hand with 50% to 70% original gold over silver finish with a couple of darkened areas and some small losses of finish but most original silver remains just darkened slightly.
