<B>Set of Books from William Thackeray's Library and Signed by Thackeray</B></I> <B>Richard Steele <I>The Guardian, Volumes One and Two</B></I></B></I> (London: J. & R. Tonson & S. Draper, 1745), first edition, volume one 372 pages, volume two 382 pages, 16mo (4" x 6.75"), bound in contemporary full brown calf with gilt decoration, raised bands on spine, good condition with bumped corners, uniformly rubbed and dry boards, broken exterior hinges. The interior pages very good with some age toning especially to the endpapers. Of particular note are Thackeray's comment on the front free endpaper of each volume "<I>A very amusing, curious book</B></I>" and his signature "<I>W. M. Thackeray</B></I>".
