Set of Books From William Makepeace Thackeray's Personal Library Letters Writ by a Turkish Spy Who Liv'd Five and forty Years undiscover'd at Paris (London: G. Strahan .et.al, 1730), ninth edition, part of a broken set, volume six 264 pages, volume seven 248 pages, both volumes 16mo (4" x 6.5"), bound in contemporary calf, poor condition. Both front boards have come lose from the book block and the leather is well worn. There is foxing in each volume especially on the preliminary pages. However, these books are significant as they are the personal copies of William Thackeray. Thackeray has written "W. M. Thackeray" on the front fly-leaf of each volume.
