(Walt Disney Studios, 1942) An incredible collection of (211) original production drawings used in the creation of the Goofy short "How to Play Baseball". "How to Play Baseball" was the first of the popular Goofy "How to..." films and was produced to accompany the theatrical release of The Pride of the Yankees. The original drawings are all from the same sequence. 146 of the drawings depict Goofy attempting to hit different types of pitches such as "the curve", "the inside curve", "the outside curve", and "the drop". The remaining drawings in the collection depict the baseball, Goofy's hat spinning, the catcher's glove, and other small effects details. The drawings are created in pencil on studio animation paper which comes in the standard 10"x12" size as well as an elongated 10"x14.75" size to accommodate the catcher's glove. The set is in very good condition overall with minor wear from use including some small tears around the edges. The elongated drawings have their extra paper folded back over the drawings so that they all fit within their original studio file folder. A collection of sequential drawings like this is an exceptionally rare piece of Walt Disney Studios history.
