19th Century ginger ale soda bottles ( set of 3 ) recovered from an old privy in Beaufort SC. Two of the bottles are strongly embossed, on one side GRATTAN & CO. LTD. BELFAST IRELAND. The opposite side embossed, “ESTD 1825 - Large G & Co.” And, “ORIGINAL MAKERS OF GINGER ALE” with insignia.  The bottom is embossed with a large “G”. Third bottle is unmarked.   In the 19th Century Soda Bottles were made with rounded bottoms requiring them to be laid down in storage. This positioning kept the cork wet so that the carbon dioxide gas would not leak out and make the soda go flat! Measures: approx. 9" in length x 2 3/8” diameter Grattan & Company Ltd.
