Series of poems entitled "The Peculiar Profile" signed Minnie. Attributed to Catherine Stratton Ladd circa about Civil War era. Six (6) sheets carefully penned on each side measuring 16-1/4”x10”. Stained and aged but legible and very cleanable. Catherine Ladd wrote under many pseudo names including Minnie Mayflower. She opened a boarding school in South Carolina named Winnsboro Female Institute. She was devoted to theconfederate cause and helped design their flag. She was president of the Soldiers Aid Society and sewed clothing with girls to aid the cause. She sent her German tableware to be melted into bullets and gave her telescope to officers.
