Sergey Korolev Autograph Letter Signed
Sergey Korolev Autograph Letter Signed "S Korolev". One page, 8.25" x 8", np, March 16, 1964. Russia's Von Braum, Korolev was the leading scientist and engineer for the Soviet Space program during the "Space Race" with America. A man of extreme intelligence and vision, however, ironically he was said to be extremely pessimistic and sad. One of his favorite expressions was "We will all vanish without a trace." A man whose whole life was dedicated to taking men farther than they had ever been, was set on the fact that we would not last as a species. Unlike Von Braum who was a public figure during the space race, Korolev's identity and functions were kept entirely secret until his death, in order to keep him safe from foreign influence and agents. This document is a written on a telephonegram sent to him and it reads: "To Maximov. Does it seem worth it to split the forces, when so many things are not done? Stop wasting time and empty excuses! Immediately undertake all the necessary measures! What are you doing for starting the tests immediately? Why are you not demanding from these persons? Shaking your hand…" His keen work ethic and desire for results can be seen first hand in this letter. It is in very fine condition; usual folds are present; light overall toning; two notations in red ink in the upper left and right corners.
