Ukrainian-born dancer and choreographer (1905–1986) who takes a place among the most esteemed figures in twentieth-century ballet. Vintage glossy 8.5 x 7 photo on an 11.25 x 9 mount, an image of the reclining Lifar in costume holding a birdlike object in his outstretched arm, boldly signed and inscribed vertically (in French) in fountain pen in the blank margin and dated 1950. Light rubbing and surface marks to photo, some scattered light silvering, and toning to mount, otherwise fine condition. RRAuction COA.
