Sensation Comics #16 (DC, 1943) CGC FN/VF 7.0 Off-white to white pages. This copy would have graded much higher if not for a "scrunched" corner on the back cover (with no color break). Even so, it's topped by only one other copy in the CGC census as of this writing. The issue is the first appearance of Hard Candy, that's Etta's father! Wonder Woman heads for the Candys' Bar-L Ranch in Texas for a joyous occasion, namely Etta's wedding to one Prince Hylo Goulash. Problem is, that Prince is a Nazi con man who's in cahoots with some other Axis types. Only writer William Moulton Marston could come up with this stuff, and no one could draw it more convincingly than H. G. Peter! Mr. Terrific, Wildcat, and the Black Pirate star in backup features. Overstreet 2006 FN 6.0 value = $300; VF 8.0 value = $625. CGC census 3/06: 2 in 7.0, 1 higher. From the Collection of Harold Curtis.
