Russian admiral (1759–1846) who led an assault on the Anapa fortress in 1806 during the Russo-Turkish War. ALS in Cyrillic, one page, 8 x 10, 1827. Letter to noted Russian philosopher Alexei Ivanovich Galich, a teach of Alexander Pushkin, asking him to offer his “warm welcome” to two acquaintances whose travels have been blocked by the storms. Also addressed on the reverse in Poustochkine’s hand. Intersecting folds (one vertical fold passing through a single letter of the signature), scattered soiling, and a few small chips and tears to edges, otherwise fine condition.
