Swedish writer (1858–1940) who in 1909 became the first woman to win the Nobel Prize for Literature. TLS in Italian, two pages, 8.25 x 11, March 3, 1926. Letter to Dottore Key on some necessary changes to Riccardo Zandonai's opera ‘I cavalieri di Ekebu,’ based on her debut novel Gosta Berling's Saga. In part (translated): “In my version I propose that Giosta expose these three wishes: 1) The most beautiful girl to be his, 2) Catching the bell'Ekebu, 3) Defeat the most terrible of his enemies. Now it seems preferable that Giosta instead exposes these other desires.” Central vertical and horizontal folds, a few chips to edges, and a rusty paperclip mark and impression to upper left, otherwise fine condition.
