Seduction of the Innocent (Rinehart, 1953).
Fredric Wertham, M.D. - Seduction of the Innocent, First Edition with Bibliographical Note (Rinehart, 1953). This is the first version of this highly collectible book, with the bibliographical note on pages 399 and 400 intact! Overstreet notes that ""several copies got out before the comic publishers forced the removal of this page."" On these two pages, author Fredric Wertham listed roughly 100 names of comic publishers, identifying the ""offending parties,"" so to speak (there are so many names because every alternate name used by every publisher is listed, for instance, what we know as Timely/Marvel also appears as Combine Comic Corp., Current Detective Stories, Cornell Publishing Corp., Hercules Publishing Corp., Non-Pareil Publishing Corp., etc. etc.). Of course, the effect that this book had on the world of comics makes it a significant item in the history of the medium. The dust jacket is price-clipped and in Good condition; the book itself is in Very Good condition. Overstreet 2005 GD 2.0 value = $55; VG 4.0 value = $110; FN 6.0 value = $165; VF 8.0 value = $340; VF/NM 9.0 value = $520; NM- 9.2 value = $700.

Important notice: Heritage usually auctions material at the rate of 200-250 lots per hour. On some occasions eBay Live bid software or the Internet may not be able to keep up with the pace of the auction. We recommend placing a realistic absentee bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Occasionally the auctioneer may eliminate or reject an eBay Live bid, and the auctioneer may also reopen a lot after the close of the eBay live bidding (usually because we missed an audience bid), and may reject your bid even if it shows you as the winning bidder. By bidding via eBay Live, you agree that Heritage may award the lot to another bidder at its sole discretion under the circumstances described above or any other reasonable circumstances. Since eBay bids are not shown to us until we open the lot on the floor, we treat those bids ju
