<B>Benjamin Stoddert, First Secretary of the Navy Autograph Letter Signed</B></I> “<I>Ben Stoddert</B></I>”. One page, 7.75” x 10”, Georgetown, January 17, 1801, in ink, to Thomas Fisher, Philadelphia. In this letter Benjamin Stoddert (1751-1813) appears to try and obtain an outstanding debt through the sale of land in Pennsylvania. It reads in part: “<I>Judge Cooper offers me for some property here - his half of the Tract of Land called 'the Proprietors Garden' - or Elk Forest - held by him in partnership with you…I want no land in Pennsa…if you will give 6000 Drs. For Judge Coopers part of the land & Mortgage, I will deal with him…</B></I>”. The letter is complete with franked integral address sheet bearing a Washington postmark. The letter bears the usual fold creases, a bit of paper loss on the integral address leaf (torn at the seal), general toning to the paper, else very good. <I>From the collection of Henry E.
