Porter, Chairman of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs. Kellogg acknowledges receipt of a letter mentioning some sailors and Marines who were "to accept certain decorations conferred upon them by the Government of Greece. You request a report or recommendation from the Department of State. In reply I beg to inform you that the Secretary of the Navy...transmitted to this Department, decorations of the Government of Greece...The Department does not have in tis custody any decoration ...nor does it have any record to show the reason for the award by the Government of Greece...". The letter is in outstanding condition with dark ink.
