Secondary Confederate English made percussion belt size pistol with lock importer or agent signed “V. Libeau” and the barrel is engraved “New Orleans”. The pistol measures 10 ¼” overall with 6 ¼” octagon barrel in .52 caliber rifled. The left side of the stock is mounted with a rural American made belt hook that is forged and engraved but definitely not English made. The metal surfaces show a brown patina finish with some traces of case hardening on the lock. Thestock shows some wear from being carried and used possibly in battle. The checkering is almost halfway worn down. There is some minor cracks and normal aging with some small losses around the lock. The nipple has been beaten down from firingand the rammer is a homemade wood stick which was probably used with this pistol. Obtained by our consignor from noted firearms dealer and expert Norm Flayderman who commented that he’s only seen a few marked New Orleans of this type. Est.:$2500-$5000
