Seattle, WA - $20/10 1929 Ty. 1 First Seattle Dexter Horton NB Ch. # 11280 Very Fine. We sold this error back in September of 1999 shortly after it was discovered. It was called unique at that time and remains so today as the only known double denomination small size National Bank Note. As we noted then, "Based on the grade of the note, it apparently circulated for some time before being returned to the bank, as the right side bears the bank's stamp with the date of July 6, 1932. It appears that the note was tested for authenticity, as there is a small repaired split on the left side, along with a small translucent area where the cut was fixed. As with any newly discovered error of this magnitude, we were somewhat skeptical, but after much detailed examination of the note, we are absolutely convinced of its complete authenticity. To allay any concern, we have showed the note to America's leading error expert, with over 40 years experience in collecting and dealing in errors, and he has pronounced it genuine as well." This piece is one of the highlights of the Taylor Family collection, and will likely become the centerpiece of the collection it joins tonight as well. Lot:15488
