Unable to verify location of photograph based on information in picture. Originally part of Lincoln County, but after gold was discovered, Searchlight had a larger population than Las Vegas. At the formation of Clark County, Nevada, Searchlight was considered for the county seat. Total ore production estimated at about $7 million, with the population peaking at about 5,000 in 1907. The Barnwell & Searchlight Railroad also began operations in the spring of 1907. In later history, a flotation mill was built in 1934 and a thirty-ton custom mill ran until around 1935, but ultimately closed due to lack of ore.
