Scottish dagger showing unusual and hand engraved scabbard, gold gilt over brass, matching knife and fork, circa 19th century. The dagger measures 17" overall with 11-1/2" blade, the crossguard is engraved withthistles and flowers and a center panel showing arm coming up from lake, wearing armor, holding dagger, with the slogan "vincere vel mori". The hilt of the dagger is mounted with a brilliant orange goldstone, the scabbard is gold gilded over brass and shows light engraving with oak leaves and thistle. The knife and fork also show stones in hilt. The blade is excellent to near mint; the grips show just some slighthandling and the dagger is very good+ to near fine overall. It would be interesting to research the family crest. Est.: $2,000-$4,000
