Scottish basket hilt back sword of type carried by Dragoon’s showing English reconfiguration probably circa about 1760s. The blade measures approximately 1 ¼” at the widest part near hilt and has been reduced slightly too approximately 33 ¼” and now the sword is 40 ¼” overall. The inside of the basket has been velvet lined and backed in leather during the period of use. The pommel nut and matching appearance show period rework and matching patina. Good blades and swords were never discarded and they were remounted and reused becoming truly the first successful recycling. Est.: $1400-$2800
