Illustrated endpapers. Inscribed (in Scott Carpenter's hand) and signed on the front free endpaper "<I>For Jo Ruth & Jimmy Kerr - Scott Carpenter</B></I>" and below Carpenter by the remainder of the Mercury Seven as follows: "<I>Gordon Cooper</B></I>", "<I>D K Slayton</B></I>", "<I>J H Glenn Jr.</B></I>", "<I>Wally Schirra</B></I>", "<I>Alan B Shepard Jr.</B></I>", and "<I>Gus Grissom</B></I>". The book is in very good condition. The dust jacket is good, with two noticeable tears along the top edge, spine fold wear, and general edge wear.
