<B>Mary, Queen of Scots (1542-67), silver Ryal (30 Shillings) 1567,</B></I> S-5429, 5th Period issue, in Mary's name alone. Struck during her second widowhood (just after Lord Darnley was blown to smithereens at Kirk o'Field); Thistle counterstamp of circa 1578. A pleasing specimen with nice iridescent color on a rich gray background, details as shown in our photos, deep flan crack at 1 o'clock, carefully tooled in several areas to strengthen details seemingly lost when this piece was buried, as it appears to be a "find coin."
