Scarce model 1855 Root, .31 caliber percussion revolver, 3-1/2” octagon barrel, Hartford address without pointing hands. Blue finish, wood grips, serial #1639, fourth variation. Refer Flayderman 5B-068. The revolver remains in original good condition showing 15-25% original blue, evenly drifted and now turning to a brown patina. Good edges, good markings, generally good metal surfaces with just a few areas of light erosion and pinprick pitting in small areas on the barrel and cylinder. The hammer shows some bright original case hardening. The grips are fair to good with some nicks, mars, several small losses at heels, and two notches on right grip. The action is good, the markings are good, the interior very good. A somewhat scarce variation of less than 1200 produced. Est: $900 - $1,800
