Scarce early American percussion belt pistol marked “B&S New York Cast Steel” for famous New York gunsmith Blunt and Syms. The pistol measures 11” overall with 6” medium to heavy weight barrel of approx. .45 caliber. The barrel shows 95% bright original blue, just thinning at the edges with some minor normal aging. The engraved frame shows 10-20% drifting original blue finish going to a nice patina. The trigger guard and original brass-tipped ramrod show 50-70% toning original blue. The varnish wood grips are of select quality and show 90% varnish with a a few minor marks and scratches. The hammer shows considerable original case hardening going to a soft color. Good action, crisp overall, with some fiery blue in protected areas underneath frame and inside trigger guard. An unusual American pistol that closely resembles the tstyling of the pepperbox in the grip area and shows same engraving as their more well-known pepperboxes. An exceptionally fine single shot which is seldom seen. Est: $1,000 - $2,000
