Scarce and Excellent Winchester Model 1892 Lever Action Carbine with Factory Documented Special Orde
According to the included factory letter, this rifle arrived at the warehouse on October 10, 1908 and was then shipped out on October 13, 1908, order number 174607. Also, the letter confirms the configuration, including the pistol grip stock, shotgun butt and Lyman sights. Lyman blade front and 2-leaf folding rear sights, with "MANUFACTURED BY THE WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO./ NEW HAVEN, CONN. U.S.A PATENTED OCTOBER 14. 1884." between the barrel band and the rear sight and "44 W.C.F." on the left side near the breech. A Lyman peep sight is mounted on the upper tang. Checkered forearm and pistol grip stock, with Winchester hard rubber grip cap and checkered buttplate.

Condition: Excellent with 95% original blue finish, showing some mild thinning on the high points and some overall collector type handling marks. The hammer and lever both display brilliant flashes of original case colors the balance has some what silvered out but still displays a distinct case color pattern. The wood is excellent, showing only very minor scattered pressure dents. Mechanically excellent. Overall this is an excellent special order Winchester Model 1892 Carbine.
