Manufactured in 1923, the last year of production. This Third Model 1873 Carbine has the integral dust cover rail and dust cover with serrated edges. The left side of the barrel ahead of the rear sight is marked with the two line address/King's improvement 1866 and '60 patent dates and "44 W.C.F." at the breech. The top of the barrel and front receiver ring are marked with the Winchester oval proof, the brass cartridge elevator is marked "44 CAL.", the three line model, maker, trade mark info is marked on the upper tang and the lower tang is marked with the serial number. The front sight has a blade mounted in a block behind the upper barrel band and folding ladder rear sight graduated to 200 yards. Full magazine tube, saddle ring and staple mounted on the left rear of the receiver and mounted with a smooth forearm and straight grip stock with a crescent buttplate with compartment (cleaning rod not included).

Condition: Fine. The barrel retains 80% of the original thinning blue finish with areas fading to a plum patina. The magazine tube retains 50% original thin blue finish with a smooth brown patina on the balance. The receiver shows 25% original blue finish in the protected areas around the side plates with a smooth mottled brownish gray patina on the balance. The hammer and lever have a smooth gray patina and the buttplate is a mix of smooth brown and silver gray patina. The wood remains fine with a barely visible minor crack on both sides of the forearm at the upper rear and overall scattered minor dings and dents. The markings are clear. The action is excellent.
