Manufactured in 1943 and subsequently refurbished at Rock Island Arsenal after WWII. The US&S Co. produced just over 50,000 Model 1911A1 pistols during WWII and is one of the more desirable examples to acquire for a martial collector. The slide is marked with the intertwined "USS" company logo and "U.S. & S CO./SWISSVALE, PA. U.S.A.". The right side of the frame has the U.S. property marking over the serial number and the left side has the "RCD" inspection mark above the magazine release with a single "P" proof near the magazine release. The right side of the frame has the Rock Island Arsenal rebuild markings. This pistol has a WWII High Standard barrel. It has the early style checkered parts with a serrated arched mainspring housing. It has the earlier style Colt grips with the large ring around the grip screws.

Condition: Very fine as arsenal refurbished showing 95% parkerized finish, with scattered light scratches and light sharp edge wear. The grips are excellent showing minor handling and sharp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
