Estimate: $9500 - 13000
Manufacturer: Mauser Model: P08
This is a scarce, 1941 production Luger pistol that has the "42" code for the Mauser factory with the "41" for year of manufacture stamped on the chamber area of the barrel extension. This was a relatively short production variation as both the year of manufacture and secret factory code both were eventually changed. This variation has been aptly termed by collectors as a "41/42" code Luger. In addition this scarce Luger has the "Ku" markings in front of the barrel extension serial number actually indicating it was a late 1944 contract for the Luftwaffe assembled by Krieghoff & Sohns using left over, or out of tolerance parts from the Mauser factory. These are a fairly scarce pistol as not more than a few thousand were actually produced and will have very limited Luftwaffe proofs as in this example. As noted above this pistol has the distinctive Mauser factory parts with no German Army proofs, and in this example has a single very faint late war Luftwaffe "LZA" proof on the right side of the barrel extension and left side of the barrel, with no other proofs. Both magazines are the late type three versions with the blued "fxo/Eagle 37" marked magazine bodies with pinned aluminum bases that are marked "3426" on each base with no other proofs. This Luger includes a converted flare gun holster that has a metal "D" ring type front closure with the magazine pouch sewn on the side and a single large belt loop added to the back. It is marked inside "FRANKURZ/STUTTGART/1937" over a Nazi proof in ink.
