Scarce World War II 1938 Dated Nazi Navy S/42 Code Mauser Luger Pistol with 1939 Dated Nazi Navy Holster

This is an example of 1938 dated S/42 code Mauser Navy contract Luger pistol with the Navy marked grip strap. The back grip strap is marked "N/2468", indicating North Sea issue. The chamber area is dated "1938" with the S/42 code marking on the front toggle. The right side of the barrel extension has the double "Eagle/63" Waffenamt proofs next to the single eagle firing proof, which is also present on the right side of the barrel. It has the full serial number "3087" on the major components with the last two digits "87" on the various smaller parts. The safety and extractor are correctly marked "GESICHERT" and "GELADEN" respectively. It is fitted with a magazine with an aluminum base that is marked "N 2436X/2679/l/Eagle/63". The grips are nicely checkered walnut that are marked on the back sides with the number "14". This Luger is complete with an original 1939 dated Navy issue leather holster. The back side is marked "KARL BOKER/1939/WALDBRUL/Eagle/WaA707/Eagle M". These early Navy issue Lugers are scarce as the Navy just did not require nearly as many as the German Army and it is estimated that 10,000 total were actually procured for Navy issue during WWII.

Excellent with 90% plus of the original blue finish overall with edge and high spot wear. The grips are both excellent with nice sharp distinct checkering overall. Mechanically excellent. The holster is also very good with nice black color overall showing considerable age cracking down the front of the holster with minor scuffing and color loss on the toe and edge of the magazine pouch.
