Scarce Winchester Model 12 Slide Action Shotgun with Rare 32 Inch Solid Rib Stainless Steel Barrel
Manufactured in 1927, this version of a 12 gauge Winchester Model 12 shotgun has a very scarce 32 inch solid rib stainless steel barrel. The barrel has a single bead sight and is marked "-STAINLESS STEEL- [three line Winchester trademark] - MODEL 12-12 GA. FULL" on the left side and the two line address/patent dates marking on the right side. Standard receiver with serrated top. Single factory proofs on the barrel and receiver. Nicely figured 18 groove forearm and pistol grip stock with Winchester hard rubber buttplate. Length of pull is 13 3/4". The stainless steel barrels were Japanned and this finish quickly wore through leaving a spotted finish and were not very popular. Since stainless steel barrels were not popular and were available for a comparatively short time, all Winchesters with these barrels are very rare and valuable collectors items.
