Scarce Warner Open Frame Revolving Percussion Carbine
Made circa 1849, with total quantity estimated between 50 and 100. The main distinguishing feature is the long hook type cylinder release latch located ahead of the trigger, passing through the front of the trigger guard. The manually rotating 6-shot grooved cylinder is non-retracting and bears a faint etched motif. Equipped with a loading lever and a safety shield. The frame is marked "WARNER'S / PATENT" on the left side and "JAMES WARNER / SPRINGFIELD MASS." faintly on the right. "62" is marked on the loading lever and "0" is marked near one of the two tapped holes on the barrel underside near the breech. Half moon front sight and fixed notch rear sight. Mounted on a smooth straight grip stock with a brass patch box on the right side and a series of numbers scratched into the left.
