This is a nice example of an early prewar "Zero Series" P.38 Pistol. The left side of the slide is marked with the "Walther" banner followed by "P.38" and the serial number "03530", with the right side stamped with a single Eagle firing proof, between two "Eagle/359" Waffenamt proofs. The left side of the frame has the serial number along with a single "Eagle/359" Waffenamt proof. The barrel has the single "Eagle/359" Waffenamt on the right side lower lug with the full serial number on the front of the lug. Several of the components have the "Eagle/359" Waffenamt acceptance mark, which would be correct for this early pistol. The pistol is fitted with the early black plastic grips with the checkered panels, with the back side of each grip having the four circular mold marks that are marked as follows: the top one "Cewe", the next mold mard is the desirable "480" code number next is the intertwined grip makers factory code along with "V7/Z3", the last three digits of the serial number "530" and the last one has a single number "1". This "480" code is an unusual code as it was used by Walther only from mid 1940 through October 1940. The magazine has a dull blue finish and is marked "P. 38" on left side just above the floor plate, with a single "Eagle/359" on the spine.

The markings are clear and sharp. The grips are in excellent condition with only minor handling marks with nice distinct checkering on both sides. This pistol has all matching parts except the unnumbered magazine as noted above. A very nice representative example of a scarce early Zero-Series P38 pistol.
