Set into a glass topped varnished wood frame 54 1/2 inches wide and 41 1/2 inches tall, the center of the display is dominated by a diamond panel with the U.M.C. logo on a scene of elk in the woods, surrounded by 36 rimfire cartridges, 20 uncased bullets, 3 pinfire rounds, 118 centerfire pistol and rifle rounds including a 1 inch Gatling shell, 25 shotshells (full and cutaway), 6 friction primers and a box of assorted caps and wads. Each cartridge, bullet and component group is individually labeled, with the bottom section marked "FACTORY: BRIDGEPORT, CONN. U.S.A.", "CARTRIDGE MACHINERY/GOVERNMENT CONTRACTORS" and "STORES: NEW YORK AND SAN FRANCISCO".

Condition: Very fine, showing only a few light areas on the board and traces of brown along the edges. All cartridges are excellent, and in their correct places. The frame is very good with the UMC trademark and Union Metallic Cartridge Signs having been removed and the old reapplied varnish showing some finish loss and minor handling marks. A superb example of a scarce piece of sporting and martial cartridge history.
