Scarce USMC Property Marked BSA Martini-International MK II Single Shot Rifle, #UE8104, .22 LR cal., 29'' free-floating barrel, blue finish, skipline checkered thumbhole pistol-grip cheekpiece buttstock, adjustable buttplate, palmrest base on forend, with tensioning adjusters, adjustable sling swivel. Redfield International rear sight with adjustable aperture; Redfield International Parker-Hale PH1 Globe front sight. British proofmarks to right side of frame and barrel near muzzle; hand-stamped ''USMC Property'' to left side of barrel, as well as palmrest. Dating from the early to mid-1950s. Complete in Al Freeland custom hardcase, with cleaning rod and additional front sight apertures. It is interesting to note that in a March 1959 issue of Guns Magazine under Favorite Guns, Al Freeland himself states that the BSA Martini-International MK II is his favorite rifle, as it is the only one he can consistently group tightly with in the 50-yard Small Bore Match and Camp Perry. Condition is fine to near excellent with minor thinning and scuffing to blue from range use. Stock with light wear, scuffs and minor scratches to select walnut stock, which shows an additional coat of linseed oil. Action is tight, trigger is crisp and light, bore is bright. Box shows wear and mild just-beginning corrosion commensurate with age. Est.: $1,800-$2,400. (C&R) (Hat, cartridge box, and glasses not included.)
