Scarce U.S. Martially Inspected Colt Model 1861 Navy Percussion Revolver

Manufactured in 1862, the second year of production. The top of the barrel has the one line New York U.S. America address, "COLTS/PATENT" on the left side of the frame and the cylinder has the Texan/Mexican navy scene. Single letter inspection marks such as "B", "C" and "T" are stamped on most of the major components. Matching numbers on the cylinder, frame, barrel and grip straps with an unmarked wedge. Fitted with a one piece varnish grip. The left side of the grip has a script letter cartouche (very faint). Very few Colt Model 1861 Navy revolvers were sold to the U.S. Army during the Civil War.
