This is a scarce example of a U.S. Model 1812 Flintlock Musket as produced by John Joseph Henry of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Reportedly Henry received a contract for 2,707 muskets in February 1815. However, the quantity delivered remains unknown. The lock plate is marked "J.J&W. JH HENRY" in front of the hammer and "PHILA / US" marked vertically behind the hammer. The barrel has a circled "P" and "SALEM" stamped on the left side at the breech and a bayonet lug on the underside near the muzzle. Three barrel bands with a sling swivel on the trigger guard and middle barrel band and a blade sight on the front band. Stock has "V / LG / I / R" stamped on the left flat and a flat buttplate. Complete with a 11" long powder horn with wood plug.
BBL: 42 1/4 inch round
Stock: walnut
Gauge: 69

Serial Number: NSN
Condition: Very good. The musket has a smooth dark patina with even minor pitting.
