Scarce U.S. Harpers Ferry Hall's Patent Model 1836 Breech Loading Percussion Carbine with Ramrod Bay
Only 2,000 carbines of this model were made from 1836 to 1840. Blade front and notch rear sights, with the top of the breechblock marked "U.S./ S. NORTH/ MIDLtn/ CONN./ 1837" at the front and etched "A./ No. 8" at the rear. Equipped with an offset hammer, trigger style breech catch and a sliding lock for the catch. Mounted on the underside of the barrel is a 24 3/4" triangular spike ramrod bayonet. Smooth straight grip stock, with a small oval cartouche on the left side ahead of the wrist, a sling ring and tool compartment on the underside of the buttstock and a smooth, flat buttplate. These carbines were issued to the 2nd U.S. Dragoons for the Florida campaign, where they saw extensive use.

Condition: Very fine, with 60% of the original brown finish, showing patches of gray patina and scattered spotting and handling marks. Stock is fine, with a few chips and cracks, along with some pressure dents. The cartouche is fine and clearly legible. Mechanically very good.
