Scarce Takedown Winchester Model 1885 Low Wall Single Shot Rifle
Manufactured from 1885 to 1923. This rifle is a late production model that was manufactured sometime after 1913 in scarce takedown configuration. German silver blade front and adjustable rear sporting sights, and a short range tang mounted peep sight. The top barrel flat is marked with the two line address/patent dates, "25 R.F." is marked on the left upper flat at the breech, the Winchester oval proof is marked on top of the receiver and barrel at the breech and the serial number is marked on the lower tang. All blue finish with casehardened hammer, breechblock and lever, and mounted with a smooth walnut forearm and straight grip stock with a crescent buttplate.

Condition: Very fine. The rifle retains 90% original thin blue finish with high edge wear, areas of smooth plum and gray patina. The breechblock retains 50% original bright case colors with the balance, and the lever, having a smooth silver gray patina. The reoiled wood is very good with a pleasant hand rubbed patina on the forearm, and the stock retains most of the original varnish and there are overall scattered minor dents, dings and scratches. The buttplate has a smooth mottled gray patina. The markings are crisp and clear. The action is excellent.
