The Model 1878 revolver was the first Swiss made revolver used by the Swiss military and was issued to cavalry units with about 6,000 in service. The left side of the barrel lug is marked with the serial number over "WAFFENFABRIK / BERN". The serial number also appears on the cylinder, barrel, and trigger. The cylinder pin and ejector rod have the partial serial number (593) along with the number "2796" and "12" respectively. The hammer is marked with the number "8". Geneva cross proofs are present on the barrel, barrel lug, trigger guard, and cylinder. There is a lanyard ring on the butt. Fitted with checkered hard rubber grips with the Swiss cross imprinted on the left panel. Complete with a leather holster.
