The Stevens Ideal Model 51 single shot Schuetzen rifle was an upgraded deluxe version of the standard Stevens Walnut Hill target rifle that was manufactured from 1896 to 1916. The No. 1 heavy barrel is stamped with the two line address marking on the top flat, "32.40" on the upper left flat and the matching serial number on the underside ahead of the forearm. The barrel has no provisions for iron sights and is equipped with a Stevens target scope. The sides of the receiver have deluxe factory engraving that consists of the scroll engraved patterns with a hunting dog on the left side. The rifle also has double set triggers, short loop lever with two piece wood panel insert , palm rest and double prong Schuetzen buttplate. Mounted with nicely figured straight grip stock with checkered forearm and stock wrist, cheekpiece and casehardened Schuetzen buttplate.

Condition: Fine with period refinished barrel. The barrel retains 98% plus of the blue finish. The remaining metal surfaces retain 40% original case colors. The buttstock is very fine with a repaired chip near the upper tang and some very scattered minor handling marks. The checkering is crisp. The forearm is a period replacement. Slightly loose lever and sound triggers. The scope retains 30% original blue finish with the balance a mottled gray patina showing a couple areas of minor pitting. The optics are hazy.
