Manufactured in 1928. This is an example of a rare special order Model 1894 with full nickel finish and checkered forearm and straight grip stock with a checkered hard rubber Winchester buttplate. The left rear of the barrel is marked with the model designation, trademark and nickel steel marking followed by "30 W.C.F.". The top, breech end of the barrel and front receiver ring are stamped with the Winchester oval proof, the upper tang is marked "WINCHESTER / -TRADE MARK- / -MADE IN U.S.A.-" and the serial number is marked on the bottom of the receiver. Blade front sight and ladder carbine rear sight graduated to 200 yards and full magazine tube. The carbine is absent of a saddle ring which would be correct for a carbine manufactured after 1925. According to "The Winchester Book" by Madis, page 437 only 1 of every 950 Model 1894s were made with plating of any kind (gold, silver, nickel, etc.). By writers calculations that would be roughly 7,000 to 8,000 total, not a large number considering the large amount of 94s produced over the years.
BBL: 20 inch octagon
Stock: walnut
Gauge: 30 WCF
Finish: nickel

Serial Number: 1051046
Condition: Very fine. The carbine retains 80% of the original nickel plating with scattered flaking and blistering. The exposed areas have a brownish gray and silver gray patina. There is some minor pitting on the lower rear edge of the receiver. The wood is also very good with almost all of the original varnish remaining, overall scattered minor dings, dents and scratches and crisp checkering. The buttplate has a couple of minor chips on the toe. The markings are crisp and clear. The action is excellent. A very scarce 1894 carbine with full nickel plating and deluxe checkered 3X wood.
