Scarce Revolutionary War Era Prussian Flintlock Musket
This is an example of an unmarked, possibly Prussian or German flintlock musket manufactured circa 1770 just prior to the American Revolution. The musket has three iron, spring fastened bands and a wide-mouth upper ramrod pipe. The double bridle lock has a beveled lock plate, beveled gooseneck hammer, integral, faceted iron pan and frizzen with curled tip. The side plate, ramrod pipes, trigger guard and buttplate are iron. The strapped upper barrel band has a blade front sight. The lug for the socket bayonet is located on the underside of the barrel. The musket has an iron ramrod with button tip. The walnut stock has a low comb and an oil finish. There are two proof marks on the top of the barrel opposite the flash hole.
