Several hundred of these trap guns were manufactured from 1858 to 1862 by F. Reuthe of Hartford Connecticut. This is the single barrel model with the barrel being a screw-in type. It does not have the barbed arrow-like devices that protruded from the gun. Cast iron construction with fluted grip. The barrel is marked "F.REUTHE'S / PATENT / MAY 12, 1857" and an etched floral motif on the hammer.

Condition: Very fine. The pistol retains traces of original black enamel on the grip, otherwise a smooth brown patina. There is some minor pitting on the hammer, with strong traces of the etching remaining. Spring is strong, but will not latch at full cock.
