Scarce Remington Model 1890 Single Action Army Revolver
This Remington Model 1890 Single Action Army revolver is one of a scarce low production of approximately 2000. The revolver has a full nickel-plated finish with two-piece black checkered, hard rubber grips. There is an elaborate "RA" monogram at the top of each grip. The top of the barrel is roll-stamped: REMINGTON ARMS CO> ILLION, N.Y." in a single line. The caliber designation, "44. C.F.W." is stamped on the left side of the frame. The serial number, "1639" is stamped on the left side of the butt underneath the grips.
BBL: 5 1/2 inch
Stock:
Gauge: 44-40 WCF
Finish: nickel
Grips: black hard rubber
Serial Number: 1639
Condition: Very fine. The revolver has approximately 75% of the original nickel-plated finish. The nickel-plating shows edge wear on the barrel muzzle and on the edges of the trigger guard and cylinder. Part of the left side of the barrel has been polished bright. The plated finish has some scattered flaking on the butt, backstrap and cylinder flutes. The hammer has about half of the nickel plated finish. The markings on the barrel and frame are crisp. The lanyard loop has been removed from the butt and the swivel has been replaced with a period, hand-made pin. The grips are in good overall condition with moderate handling wear. There are 1/4 inch rectangular chips in bottoms of both grips. The action is crisp and functions well. This is a very fine example of a scarce Remington Model 1890 Single Action Army Revolver.
