Also known as the New Model Pocket Army, it's estimated that Remington produced less than 1,000 of these revolvers circa 1888-89. Identical in appearance to the Model 1890, the revolver has a 5 3/4" round barrel marked "E. REMINGTON & SONS, ILION, N.Y. U.S.A." on top and "44" on the left of the trigger guard. The serial number 217 is marked on the left side of the grip frame under the grip panel and on the rear lower loading gate. The revolver has a blade front and frame notch rear sights, absent of the lanyard stud and ring mounted on the butt and is fitted with what appears to be smooth period replacement Mastodon ivory grips. This scarce, limited production, Remington Model 1888 was a direct competitor to the Colt Single Action Army and is one of the most sought after Remington handguns.
BBL: 5 3/4 inch round
