Scarce Remington Model 1888 .44 cal. NVSN assembly number 85 single action revolver 5 3/4" barrel, nickel finish with walnut grips top of barrel with E REMINGTON & SONS ILLION N.Y. USA. Flayerman's describes finding in the 1889 Hartley and Graham Catalog a listing for this model as made 1888-1189 with total production of less than 1000 and most likely were made for Hartley and Graham using left over parts at the factory. This particular revolver show assembly numbers 85 on barrel bottom, top of ejector, front of frame and 44 stamped on ledft side trigger guard. Barrel and cylinder polished to bright, frame hammer, trigger guard and back strap 70-80% nickel with some areas lightly cleaned, bottom of ejectory with oversized screw at barrel end. Walnut grips remain very good with nice fit. Action fine mechanically tight with good bore. Est. Unknown
