Scarce Early Remington Model 1875 Double Action Revolver, #92 (batch), 44-40 cal., 7-1/2'' barrel, rare blue finish, walnut grips cartouched ''44W.'' (.44 WCF); early pinch-type front sight, and lanyard loop in butt. Condition is fine to near excellent retaining approx. 80-90% thinning and toning blue with light to just moderate thinning to highpoints of recoil shield, topstrap, and left side of barrel. Backstrap and triggerguard retain approx. 50-60% thinning and mostly toned blue. Screw slots are straight and true. Grips show light knackering and toning at metal contact points; right grip somewhat darker than left; caliber cartouche to left grip remains clear but with an additional coat of linseed oil. Case-hardened hammer shows 60% thinning yet still vivid hues. Action locks up nicely, bore is bright and shows little use overall. Est.: $6,000-$8,000.
