for 1928 and 1929. Wrapper title as above. Both are 6 x 9" stabled pamphlets. 1928 has 46pp; 1929, 71pp. The 1928 address is a collection of stories of the Indian Wars. The first, by Brig. Gen. William Bisbee, describes the beginning of the campaign post-Civil War, and the sad condition of many posts, the lack of others. Part of his mission was to build Forts Philip Kearny and C.F. Smith. There are shorter stories by Lt. Fountain about his fight with Apaches in the Mogollon Mountains in 1885 and Major Mauck's encounter with some Cheyenne in 1878. The 1929 dinner featured three speakers involved in the Geronimo Campaign: Brig. Gen James Parker gave the primary address, Lt. Charles Gatewood added information about Geronimo's surrender, and Lt. Thomas J. Clay added "Some Unwritten Incidents of the Geronimo Campaign." Both of these postdate Ruger, who died in 1907, but must have been added to his library by family (the Order may well have mailed these proceedings to families of deceased members).

Descended directly in the family of General Thomas H. Ruger

Condition: Minor scuffing of wrappers, else fine.
