Manufacturer: Krieghoff Heinrich Gun Co Model: P.08
Manufactured for the Luftwaffe. This is a fine example of a pre-WWII Krieghoff "S" Code Luger. This Luger is marked with the early "S" Code over the chamber indicating manufacture in 1936 and is a mid-production model with serial number "3647". It is estimated that approximately 4,000 "S" Code Lugers total were produced during this year. This Luger has the C-1 die marked toggle that has the "H/Krieghoff Anchor/K" with "KRIEGHOFF/SUHL" marked below that. The left point of the anchor nearly touches the letter "H" and the word "SUHL" is slightly off-set with the "I" in Krieghoff slightly ahead of the letter "S" in SUHL, and with the flat bottom on the letter "U". The barrel extension is marked with the early "LWaA" 1st-stage 1 Luftwaffe acceptance proof with the Luftwaffe test proof and small "Eagle/2" proof on the right side. The underside of the barrel, has the bore diameter and early "Eagle/2" acceptance proof with no serial number. Military style serial number placement with the full serial number (3647) on the front frame and left side of the barrel extension with the last two digits on the various small parts. Fitted with original Krieghoff brown checkered plastic grips with the small fine checkered pattern with the smooth border around the edge of each grip panel as manufactured by the Ritzmann firm. The back side of each grip panel has the correct mold numbers that consist of a small circled "HRS" (Herman Ritzmann & Sohne Company) and the impressed number "8964". The pistol has two matching Krieghoff magazines that have the unmarked, nickel plated magazine bodies with cast aluminum bases; both have the single upside down "Eagle/2' Luftwaffe proof and both are stamped "3647". The black leather holster is has an "Eagle/2" stamped on the inside, with a partial ink stamp on the inside of the flap.
