Scarce Pre-War Nazi 1934 K Date Luger
This is a very nice example of the super rare Mauser S/42 "K" Luger pistol, second sub variation, that can be distinguished by having both the Gothic "S" and Script "S" proofmarks on the pistol. There are four distinct sub variations of "K" date lugers for the entire production. With all "K" date Lugers being produced in 1934. In this lot the documented serial numbers run from approximately 1700 to 5250 with this pistol being fairly early in the production cycle. These early production Lugers used letter codes to hide initial rearmament production and the top of the chamber has the distinctive "K" markings indicating that it was produced in 1934, with the top of the rear toggle having both the Gothic "S" and Script "S/42" markings, indicating manufacture at the Mauser factory. The right side of the barrel extension has the single Gothic "S" proofmark over the double "O/37" proofs next to the early drooped wing Mauser Eagle proof, with the same O/37/ Eagle proof markings on each side of the barrel. The underside of the barrel has the serial number and bore diameter. The majority of the small part such as the side plate, extractor, takedown lever, safety, ejector, trigger and magazine release button have the Script "S" proof while the rear toggle, and front of the trigger guard have the Gothic "S" proof. It has walnut checkered grips and is complete with a correct early style nickel plated magazine with an aluminum base that is correctly marked with the "S" proof, serial number 267 and small "O/37" proofmarkings. It has the all rust blued metal finish with the straw colored small parts.
