Scarce Norwegian Kammerlader Navy Model 1852/67 Breech loading Landmark Rimfire Conversion Rifle
In service from 1842 to 1867, when it was phased out in favor of the Remington 1867 rifle a large number of Norway's stock of Kammerlader rifles were converted to rimfire cartridges. This rifle was converted using the Landmark system, with the original breechblock cut in two and hinged with a pair of extractors and a curved firing pin in place of the nipple. Blade front sight and "ski ramp" style tangent rear sight, with a bayonet lug on the left side of the muzzle and 3 brass barrel bands. Underhammer action, with "1853" date on the breech. Smooth straight grip stock, with sling swivels and a flat brass buttplate.
BBL: 29 inch round
Stock: walnut
Gauge: 70
Finish: blue/ casehardened
Grips:
Serial Number: 253
Condition: Fine as arsenal converted, showing a deep brown finish overall, with scattered spotting, wear on the muzzle and high edges, and a small amount of pitting and handling marks. The top surface of the bolt has silvered out, with bright colors remaining in the protected areas. Stock is also fine, with a barely noticible hairline crack on the right side below the action crank, pressure dents and scuffs. Mechanically excellent.
